Norway’s Population in 2025 – Key Trends from Official Statistics

According to the latest statistics from Statistics Norway (SSB), Norway’s population continues to grow steadily.
By the end of 2025, the estimated total population was 5,618,354 persons, up from 5,594,340 at the end of 2024 — an increase driven by both natural growth and migration.
During this period, Norway saw more births than deaths, contributing to the natural increase, while net migration also added to overall growth. These demographic changes reflect ongoing patterns in both domestic and international mobility.
Urbanisation remains significant, with a large majority of residents living in urban settlements across the country. Such population distribution highlights the continuing importance of regional hubs for economic activity, labour markets, and service delivery.
Demographic trends also show longer-term patterns of growth. Official projections suggest that Norway’s population will continue to rise over the coming decades, albeit influenced by assumptions about fertility, mortality, and migration.
NORWAY TODAY: Stable population growth signals ongoing economic demand, labour market dynamics and migration flows — a backdrop that international companies and policymakers monitor when assessing long-term engagement and presence in the Norwegian market.
